Syria،being located  at the Mediterraneaneastern coast، is a non-obligatory passage for goods between East Asia and West Europe.
However، this passage is featured by being cheap as it had already been in the past. Nevertheless، this is not sufficient.
Therefore، we are in process of developing the Syria ports first، and the railways second. We have practically commenced a great plan to modernize transportation between Syria and the Arabian Gulf
region “Dubai” through the construction of a developed ansportation line in addition to the establishment of free zones.
We are still conducting studies with an American company that is presently studying this subject.” President Al Assad adds، “Syria will be a cross-point  for gas transportation between  Asia and the Mediterranean:
Iran، Iraq and Syria towards the Mediterranean in addition to the fact that Syria will be the cross point for gas distributionin that region.
I think that marine transportation will be essential in developing cooperation after Syria will have launched the issues of free zones، technology city and other supplementary projects so that Syria will be، by its geographical location، a free zone between the East and the West.”
later to the oath speech of president Bashar Al Assad  for a new constitutional state, many praises were written… one says that the president obviously concernsabout the citizen’s living situation.
Others say that he was focusing on the constitutional reforming and fightingthe pervasive corruption ….and manyothers. We wonder…! Did they add anything new to the speech? Does the speech needto be praised? Certainly, it’s a citizen’s right to cheer up this event, because Mr. president has shown us the way of our future, spoketo everyone from the bottom of his heart to the bottom of ours and he answered bravely.
We believe that the citizen who feels theresponsibility shouldn’t praise, just becausethe praise usually comes regularly from the top of the pyramid toward the bottom. And from another side, this very  citizen has to answer an urged question «what’s your location through the speech trend?» In an another expression «what did you do? …what did you apply during your practical management? Can we even reach that level of a complete sense of responsibility that Mr.Bashar Al Assad, our leader, has?…..  GOD bless Bashar and save our country. Where do we meet? Where’s the lack? What’s the best way to come over our faults?
We, as the general organization for free zones in Syria, and his excellency honored of by saying “sctting up free zones that has a promising investment give our word to be an ideal taken by every one, trying to translate Mr. president’s interests and concerns and moving our lovely country to the level it deserves.
Since our start in the administration dated November 11th, 2006 we have followed our president’s words through the following:
Regarding the institutional reformation:
1 - A committee has been formed to reform the internal system of the foundationto be current age compatible.
The work has been done by the efforts of national experts. And an internal system
has been decided according to the decision of the minister of trade and economy in 4 months period as a record according to this decision we create anew directory called promotion and international cooperation directory.
